Teaching Yoga for Beginners – Sharon Shanti
Teaching Yoga to Beginners can be the most challenging teaching situation. Learn how to design accessible, empowering classes for new students, building strong foundations in breath, movement, and awareness.
This course will focus on how to plan, structure, and lead yoga classes specifically for new practitioners, focusing on fundamental poses (asana), clear and accessible instruction, safe alignment and modifications. basic breathing techniques (pranayama). Key elements include creating a welcoming environment, using simple language, offering appropriate variations for different bodies, and providing guidance on establishing a consistent and progressive yoga practice.
This advanced training is focused on teaching yoga to beginners is designed for certified instructors who want to deepen their skills for working with new students. Refine your ability to create a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment.

This advanced training is designed for yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners ready to go beyond asana and into the transformative world of yogic meditation. Practicum
There is a 40-hour practicum as part of the 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training. We have uniquely embedded 25 hours of this within the modules. You are able to cover the remaining hours of the required practicum by completing 15 hours of at least two of the following:
- Assisting in classes being taught in rotation for YTT graduates at the studio
- Assisting in classes being taught by Lead teachers
- Assisting in 200-hour YTT classes (during our yoga practices on YTT weekends
- Keeping a journal reflecting on the Modules you take
- Reading recommended books
- Spending time in person or via Zoom with 200-hour YTT student/s to help them practice teaching, sequencing classes, etc.
Sushma Reddy and/or Amy Thompson will help you come up with a plan for your practicum. You have 2 years to complete this. Feel free to email Amy about this as a starting point at jamythompson321@gmail.com.
